Ignoring climate integration can result in maladaptation, where short-term solutions like seawalls may inadvertently increase long-term risks. Proper planning is crucial to avoid trapping communities in vulnerable situations.

In 2022, official development assistance reached US$204 billion, yet nearly half of humanitarian needs remained unaddressed. Rich countries contributed only 0.36% of their income to aid, far below the 0.7% promised since 1970.
